Once again, we have Melissa to blame—I mean thank. :-)
1. Okay, let’s start out with the biggie: I don’t read romance. (That horrible sound you hear is all my romance writer friends booing me. Read on before you judge me ladies. Pleeease!) It’s not that I’ve never read a romance. I read a handful of Harlequins in junior high, because my stepfather (who knew I loved to read, but had no clue what I loved to read) brought home twenty of them from a local flea market. But I never could get into a book with a romance as the only plot. That might change. Who knows?
2. That said, my second secret is that I’ve been very tempted to read a couple of romance books this past year. I actually started a paranormal romance series (sounds like my style, huh?) my mom lent me, but couldn’t finish the third book, because the head-hopping drove me crazy. I’ve also read three of Gena Showalter’s books (no surprise, my favorite was Awaken Me Darkly), and was actually disappointed to realize I couldn’t get my hands on Jill Monroe’s after reading the excerpt on her website.
3. Until I became a “real live” adult and accrued all the responsibilities inherent in that, I read very, very fast. A book a day. A very long book a day. It’s been a few years since I’ve been able to do that except on vacation, but I remember those days fondly.
4. I have long since passed the point of being able to remember every book I’ve ever read. I can’t even remember all the ones I read in college.
5. Most of my books are still packed, even though we moved into our house 2 ½ years ago, because we don’t have anywhere near enough room to display them all. Nowhere near.
6. Other than romance (see #s 1 and 2), I read a very broad range of fiction. Horror, thrillers, mysteries (I love mysteries, but no cozies!), mainstream, and literary (mostly the classics).
7. I don’t read non-fiction. At all. No how-to, no self-help, nothing without a plot since graduation. And I’m very happy with that decision.
8. My favorite bookmarks are book thongs. (If you don’t know what these are, ask me. They’re the best!)
9. I do not fold down corners.
10. I always break the spine. Unlike people, a book is not loved if its spine is not broken.
I’m not going to tag anyone for this, but if the subject strikes your fancy, feel free to blame it on me.

I always break the spine too, no matter the nasty looks and gasps of horror I hear from my mother-in-law (the only other book-o-phile in the house). So glad someone else does this too!!
ACK! What is it with you people? Breaking a book's spine? Oh, the horror! *grin*
Pre-children days, I didn't do that. Now...well, let's just say my books have become much more "loved."
Spine-cracking as a right of passage...interesting concept.
I never thought about it. Some spines crack, others don't. It's the luck of the glue and whatever weird angle I'm holding it at.
I break the spines on my books too }:)
I looove book thongs. They make the best gifts. I love the look on the face of someone terrified by the word thong and watch them try to wrap around in there head why they would want one on a book. Also, watch out for #5. I am desperately trying to get unpacked, and I must give away most of my books. If I'm not going to read them...they need to find a new home and make nice a nice fire hazard elsewhere. Yes, I've been in a house fire and it sucks.
