December Giveaway!

Posted by Rachel Vincent

[Note: I haven't forgotten about the cookie recipe I said I'd post. Look for it tomorrow, I swear. The post is already written. ;-)]

Okay, blog readers the world over, listen up. The details have fallen into place for a December giveaway, and with any luck, the winner will receive his or her prizes just in time for Christmas. And wait until you see what’s up for grabs!

The marketing department at Orbit has graciously offered to send the winner the first two books in Jennifer Rardin’s Jaz Parks series. Here they are:

I’m Jaz Parks. My boss is Vayl, born in Romania in 1744. Died there too, at the hand of his vampire wife, Liliana. But that’s ancient history. For the moment Vayl works for the C.I.A. doing what he does best—assassination. And I help. You could say I’m an Assistant Assassin. But then I’d have to kick your ass.Our current assignment seemed easy. Get close to a Miami plastic surgeon named Assan, a charmer with ties to terrorism that run deeper than a buried body. Find out what he’s meeting with that can help him and his comrades bring America to her knees. And then close his beady little eyes forever. Why is it that nothing’s ever as easy as it seems?

And…

Jaz Parks has enough trouble in her personal life. What she doesn't need is more trouble with her vampire boss and another mission. This time she has to retrieve a vital piece of biotechnology by killing the maniac who stole it: an ancient Chinese vamp. Their cover in this mission: professional entertainers at the Corpus Christi's Winter Festival. The crew's all here: a psychic, a techno-wizard, a singing vampire, a juggling PI, and Jaz. Holy crap in a bottomless well, Jaz is going to bellydance. It's definitely, probably, quite possibly going to be the end of the world as we know it.

[A note here, Another One Bites the Dust doesn’t officially come out until December 12, so the winner may very well get his or copy in advance of the shelf date!]

And I have more good news! Godiva has restocked its chocolate snowmen, and assuming they don’t run out again, I’m giving one away with the books!

The perfect stocking stuffer and just the right size to defrost the heart of someone you'd like to treat this season, our classic snowman is 7 3/10" of delicious Godiva semi-solid milk chocolate detailed with red trim. Arrives in a clear bag. 1 pc. (8 oz.)

The details:

  • You qualify to win both books and the chocolate snowman if you are not related to me or to Jennifer, and you live in the continental US.
  • You qualify to win the books only if you live outside the continental US. Sorry, folks, but Godiva has not changed its shipping policy, and there’s nothing I can do about that. ;-(
  • If Godiva runs out of chocolate snowmen (which has happened once before), I will substitute another chocolate gift in its place.
  • To enter, leave a comment in this post by 11:59 pm central time on Sunday, December 2nd, 2007. If you do not have a blogger account, you must sign your post, so I know who to announce as the winner.
  • The winner will be announced on Monday, December 3rd, and I will order the chocolate that day. Orbit will be mailing out the books to the winner.

Thanks so much to Jennifer Rardin and to Alex Lencicki at Orbit, for making this happen.

Okay, I think that’s it. Leave me a comment to enter!

It only seems fitting that since I am now one of the "writer people," I should enter a writers contest.

I have seen these contests around before, but never felt worthy enough to enter because most of the people who read these "Blogger" blogs are, well, writers. Well I am now a writer, so... YIPPY! CONTESTS! FREE STUFF! YAY YAY YAY!!

I actually read the first of these two books last week and I'll be looking for the second in ebook format when it releases next month. So anyone who doesn't win should definitely check them out. Jennifer has a great narrative voice that's easy to read, and she's built an entertaining world. And no, I don't know her, we're not friends, and I'm sure she has no idea who I am as we've never exchanged two words, lol. I just like to see a good book/new author do well.

(you can keep me out of the draw, Rachel, no matter how yummy that snowman looks ;) )

Heck yes I'm in! Actually, I just finished reading Jennifer's first book. It was a great ride. So, if I win I can use it to introduce someone else to her.

Sorry to hear your still feeling down. Might I recommend eucalyptus steam? A doctor who got tired of taking my money (I guess) recommended it for clearing out my head and I haven't been back for drugs since.

Thanks for the contest, and for your books. (Also a fun ride, by the way.)
