Some Girls Are and Cracked Up To Be, by Courtney Summers – Love, love, love these! Gritty, flawed characters, addictive writing. Hands down, my favorite YA contemporaries. Wish I could find more like these.
Perfect Chemistry and Leaving Paradise, by Simone Elkeles – Opposites attract-type young adult contemporary romances. The first YA romances I liked enough to recommend. Love them! Also, Simone has a new release this week!
The Forest of Hands and Teeth and The Dead-Tossed Waves, by Carrie Ryan – Post-zombie apocalypses with stunning writing. TFOHAT was my top YA pick of ’09, and I'm currently reading The Dead-Tossed Waves.
Raised by Wolves, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes – Young adult werewolf novel with a strong romance subplot. Loved Jen’s take on shape-shifters! This one comes out this summer...

I have read and really enjoyed both of the Courtney Summers books! The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan was another great read! I have The Dead-Tossed waves on my TBR shelf! I really, really want to read Raised by Wolves and can't wait for it to be released! I have not read Simone Elkeles, but I will definitely check out those books! Thanks for the recommendations!
I've seen those around but haven't read them yet. One YA series that is just amazing is the Jennifer Scales series by Mary Janice Davidson, the only weredragon book series i have found. When you get the time check them out!
Great books. I enjoyed TFOHaT but not enough to pick up the sequel yet. It was a bit to gory for my general tastes.
I just finished Rules of Attraction today. Amazing writing Simone does.
I'm really looking forward to Raised by Wolves.
I recommend Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready which comes out May 4th. It was awesome.
