Things I've learned by ending the Shifters series:
1. Most people don't want a series to end. I understand. I'm gonna miss the Shifters too. :)
2. There's no way to remember every single detail from the previous five books. I've had to do a lot of searching in the previous manuscripts.
3. Finding a good last line is hard! I've gone through several so far, and my editor and I agree that I haven't found the right one yet. Sigh. It needs to be perfect, because it's not just the last line in the book; it's the last line in the series!. And it will be perfect. But I only have one more chance to get it right: page proofs.
4. I'm really nervous about the reception of this book. The last in the series needs to be riveting, and fast-paced, and it has to satisfactorily wrap up all the threads. But there's no way everyone's going to be happy with the way it ends, so I'm trying to come to terms with that now, to save myself the stress later.

Hi Rachel,
I wanted to know the llink to read the first chapter of My Soul to keep. I tried from the blog entry below but get nothing.
I'm a little more than half way through PREY and you're killing me. I haven't cried so hard while reading a book ever. I love the series, you've really written something great!
Hi Rachel,
I still can't believe the Shifters series is going to end! I have NEVER been so...I don't even know how to describe it, enamored (for lack of a better word) with this series. I feel like I know these characters so well and have traveled a very exciting and heart wrenching journey with them. I swear I cried for two days after reading Prey, and cried again whenI re-read it. I have thoroughly enjoyed reaing this wonderful series. Reading your blog, got me choked up. Ridiculous, I know, but of all the series to end I wonder why yours. However, I do respect that you are ending when it the readers still wantit, instead of drawing it out for ten boring books. You have become one of my favorite authors, because nobody writes characters the way you do. If I feel emotionally attatched to character, then I know I have been reading a truly great book. I love the Soul Screamers series,I read your blog religiously for tips about the writing and publishing process, and just to see what cool things you have to say. Please don't ever stop writing books. Oh, P.S I just ordered MSTK yesterday. I sooo can't wait. I am really nervous about, since there is supposed to be some big changes. I plan to review it on my blog once I finish it. My blog is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly at www.goodreadsonly.blogspot.com I would LOVE for you to check it out!
I am SO excited to read Alpha, you have no idea-the Shifters series is one of the most original awesome series ever! Im sure you'll find the right line to end with! :-)
I'm just going to send you some good vibes! :)
I really can't imagine how Alpha will be! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us. That last line must be hard to pick. Good luck with it!
I'll be at BEA on Wednesday. I'll see you at your signing! :) Can't wait.
I love your Shifters series. I was intrigued by the cats being the dominant weres in your world. It's been so wonderful. You touched on so many emotions. They've been riveting. Even though I just finished Shift, I will be rereading them soon. The characters stick with me for days after finishing a book and I even dream of them. Keep up the wonderful work. :)
I just went out and bought my mom the first three books in the Shifters series!
I can't wait to hear what she thinks, though, I bet you she'll love them!
Love, Hannah
