Censorship vs. Spoilers

[Warning: this note contains complete honesty]

I hate censorship and hate deleting comments (even when people track me down and comment here just to tell me they hated my book; yes, it happens, and I have no idea how I'm expected to respond). But I hate spoilers even more, so in the past couple of weeks, I've had to delete several comments from my blog, and several more from Facebook, because they contained spoilers.

If you want your comment to appear here, don't put spoilers in it. This is Official Blog Policy, people. I should probably write that in the sidebar somewhere...

So, for the record, anonymous poster from this morning, your comment wasn't rejected because you were disappointed in Alpha (that's your right, and this is me making sure your voice was heard), but because you mentioned half the plot points in the book. That's not fair to people who haven't read it yet.

Okay, now let's move on to the fun stuff!

Two new blog tour stops, this time from the UK blog tour my UK publicist set up:
  • Fluttering Butterflies has a guest post from me in which I list my favorite horror films (suitable for Hallowee viewing!), complete with pictures! Yes, horror movie images. Don't click if you don't want to see...
  • Book Chick City has a guest post from me, wherein I talk about black cats and Halloween, and she gives away 5 shiny copies of Alpha (unsigned, straight from the publisher, I believe). So if you haven't gotten your copy yet, head on over! You could win one!

Why would people do that? I'm sure they're miserable, generally unhappy people. Well I LOVE your books (and also hate spoilers- I was the weird kid that knew where my mom hid all the Christmas presents but never peeked.)

I am currently reading Pride, so I would be bent if someone posted spoilers on Alpha. Love your work!

I agree, spoilers suck. It is rude to give up parts of a story or even movie to those that havn't had the chance to enjoy it for themselves yet.

I just finished Alpha, and personally I loved it. I am sad to see the series end, and am wondering if there will be more books about the cat shifters with a new "main" character?

i so agree with you, that happened to me before with a book i was reading, it completely ruined the surprise for me, i would have loved to find that out for myself. i was so sad to read the last book of the series but it was really good, like you said: you sent Faythe in style, damn was good! i'm looking forward to reading more of your work!!!

I don't know why people track down an author to give negative comments. I've read books that I don't have feelings for but I can't see myself tracking down an author to say their books suck. But maybe you can think of it that you affected them so much that they can't get you off their minds so they HAVE to come track you down? :) Spoilers stink too. I'm waiting for your books to pop up in a used book store or something (stupid money issues I'd so go to barnes and noble if I could) so I've only read the first few. I'm dying to know whats going to happen next, but not enough to read a spoiler, I'd rather have the whole book in front of me.

Well I finished Alpha and I thought it rocked! A great way to end a great series!

Rachel, I love love love your guest post on Book Chick City. Since I am one of your "faytheful" followers,I have read most, if not all, of your blog tour posts. It was so nice to get a glimpse into your life as I feel I know you already and it wasnt one of the usual topics. My #1 and I adore cats and have adopted 4! Thanks for the read.
PS - your dad.... hilarious!

I think Alpha was great, I just think one or two more books could be done. It just seemed that things were wrapped too soon. I think that it was fast paced. But all and all I would read it again. If you don't than I would do a spin off of another character. your writing is great so you should know I am very picky on what I read.So far both your screamers and shifter book I have on My E-reader. more than likely I will read over and over again. Thanks for your books

HEY R,
I just finished ALPHA and once again I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. ALL of it. Every last bit.

Thank you for writing and letting us read it!
