I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers. I listen to a lot of the books I read on audio. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is when you don't know the book is about to end, and then just STOPS. cliffhanger....GAH! I don't enjoy them. But I will say that I do usually come back for the next novel with or without the cliffhanger, if it was something I wanted to keep reading. As much as I don't like cliffhangers, they don't deter me from continuing to read.

It depends on how big the cliff hanger is. I've read some books where the main problems were resolved but the author left one or two things up in the air (I like those). Then I've read some books that left me feeling like there should have been another chapter or three. I'll admit it can make me want to buy the next book, but more often than not what really gets me hooked on a series are the characters.
Congrats on the Blood Bound preorder!!
For the contest...I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers! I hate having to wait but I love having something to look forward to!
I love to hate them.. It leaves me gasping for more and it makes me obsessively check when the next one is coming out and whine about how the wait is absolutely killing me to people who just stare at me blankly, cause they're not as obsessed with it as I am.
But this only happens when I loved the book in the first place.
I have seriously lost sleep over cliffhanger endings.
I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. I think it depends on the story and the cliffhanger. If it is something major and the next book is going to come out like a year later it makes me very angry. I don't need cliffhangers to come back to a series.
I'm so not a fan of cliffhangers. Honestly, I think it's cheap for the author to write the end of a book like that.
It's kind of saying to the read, "HA! Got you! Now come back later for the results...in one year!"
It's kinda like on American Idol when Ryan is doing the results show and he's all like and the results.... are after these messages.
It's just brutal. I think as long as you're doing a great job at your job there's no need to put a cliffhanger in there. Readers either love you or hate you and maybe you'll get a few more people to buy your next book just to find out what happens but what's the point honestly?
The queen of cliffhangers is Karen Marie Moning in her Fever series. I love to hate those books because of the endings.
As an author I'd like to know what your reasoning behind cliffhangers is and do you agree with them? And I mean true cliffhangers, like OMG, did that really just happen cliffhangers.
I quite like cliffhangers because, even though it can be frustrating it makes you want to read the next one and find out what happened. If it's a wait until the next book is out, when I pick it up I always remember exactly where we left off
I love cliffhangers. It gives me something to think about until the next book comes out. Keeping all the previous stuff I've read fresh in my mind. That way when I pick up the next book, I'm already right in it and excited to read away!
Everyone HATES cliffhangers, ESPECIALLY at the end of the book. No one likes to be left hanging and we all want that character to be happy and achieve their goals without obstacles. Unfortunately it's those obstacles and cliffhangers that leave us wanting more.
now if there is a huge gap between the books then I would loathe a cliffhanger but if there was not much time between the books then I could live with it.
When a book ends with a cliffhanger, I just want to shout NO!!! You're going to make me wait about a year before I can find out what happens?
This is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good ~ There will be another book and I have something to look forward to. Bad ~ I want instant gratification... I don't want to wait. I want to keep reading.
Right now Jim Butcher has done this to me and now the release date of the new book has been pushed back. GAH! On the bright side, I do get to go back and reread to be up to speed when it is released.
Now I can't wait to read Blood Bound.
Keri
I respect cliff hangers if the author makes it worth it in the next book. If I wait forever just to read the next book to resolve question, and it wasn't as interesting or excited as the author made it out to be--I loathe them.
I love a good cliffhanger! Of coarse it makes you a little frustrated bc you go 'oh no!! I want to know what happens!!' But it's great bc it makes you want that next book even more... Gives you something to anticipate and look forward too! :)
Cant wait for Bloodbound!
This totally depends on how long the wait between books is I think if it's something that's already out and I'm reading through the series then great but generally I like things tied up as much as possible because otherwise it'll just irritate me till the next one comes out :)
I love them because then I know there is still more to come; but I hate them because I'm extremely impatient!
I HATE cliffhangers at the end of a book because it usually means I have to wait a whole entire year to find out what happens next. I do always come back for more though!!
I am usually not a fan of cliffhangers but they keep me wanting to read more. :)
Hey Rachel!
Congrats on the Blood Bound preorders! Now the release day seems even closer.:) And I can't wait to see the cover!
And about the cliffhangers... Well, it depends. Mostly, I like them. They make me get all nervous and jittery and eager with anticipation for the next book. But just like @Pamk here pointed out, when there is a huge gap between the books, they become pretty annoying and frustrating. That's why when it comes to longer series (more than 3 books), I prefer to wait patiently for more of them to come out before buying them. Why rush a heart attack?:)
xoxo
To me it just depends on the series. If a book isn't that good and they leave a cliff-hanger then I really don't like them cuz I won't remember to pick the book up later. If I like the book and they leave a cliffhanger it's perfectly fine because I know I'll be picking it up later.
I'm not going to lie, I hate cliffhangers. That being said however, there are other things that I hate more in stories (ie. overplayed plot lines, love triangles, love at first sight ad whatnot). And it's true what you said, cliffhangers obviously make me continue on with a series.
And SQUEE!!! I cannot wait for Blood Bound!
Avery
averys.book.nook@hotmail.ca
I like SOME cliffhangers--not the ones that leave a huge plot point open and unanswered, but the smaller ones that make me anxious for the next book in a series.
I am fine with a cliffhanger if there is at least a little resolution in the book, I don't want to be totally blindsided. The one time I will really hate a cliffhanger is if the next book is going to be released a lot later, then it is just torture and I expect the book to be really well done, so sometimes I get let down.
I have a love-hate relationship with them. On the one hand it gets me psyched up for the next book but on the other hand it leaves me I'm pulling out my hair as I'm so frustrated that it ended like it did.
i am not a huge fan of cliffhangers but i like some because they give you a sense of suspense and makes you want to read the next one like right away. But I don't like them because i just really want to know what happens...
I have a love/hate relationship with cliff hangers. If i come in late to a series and the next book is already written then i love them. On the other hand if i have to wait a whole year to find out what happens...well lets just say thats where the hate comes in.
Cliffhangers are a love/hate thing for me. You love them because it makes a great read, and makes you want more. But frustrating because it can leave you in suspense until the next book is released which sometimes can be a long time. And if its a juicy cliffhanger that can drive a person crazy!!!!
I agree with what some others are saying, I am fine with cliffhangers as long as there is some resolution to the story. If it feels like half a book, that is frustrating more than interesting.
I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. Hate because they come so unexpectedly, and leave my mouth hanging open because, danggit, what happens next?!?! It doesn't help the fact that the next book is usually a year away. And love because cliffhangers keep me coming back for more and they make the book unforgettable.
I neither love nor hate cliffhangers. I think it's usually a tie in my book. I have read some cliffhangers where the book just stops...nothing is answered. These I do NOT really care for. Then there are books that tie everything together nicely except that one little teasing detail. Those are the ones I enjoy, they leave you rather satisfied but still intrigued.
cliffhangers...
when I just recently or have just read the ending of the book with a cliffhanger on it!
I swear on my blood-soul-insertanythingimportanthere
that I will NOT! continue to read the series...
but after an hour or so...and still can't get the ending off my mind...
I determine that I'll have to make sure to read the next one...even if it means that I'll loose blood or whatever...
they ALWAYS make me MAD/MAD
1st mad--angry at the author!^^
2nd mad--crazy to read the next one
I love cliffhangers when I first read them, because they're totally exciting, but after a while it starts to sink in that I have a year to wait to find out what happens. That's when I start disliking them to an extreme extent. :)
A love-hate relationship at its finest!
I actually love cliffhangers. I like the suspense and anticipation. It leaves me longing for the next book which is good for me and the author because I usually pre-order the next book as soon as it's available when that happens. I love having that cliffhanger being resolved to look forward to!
I'm kind of torn on cliffhangers. Sometimes I'll like them, because then I can imagine what happens next. But if it's a book that's not part of a series, well, I don't like them very much because it'll be too open-ended.
It depends on the book.If the book is good then I like cliffhangers because it gets me thinking on the next book and what will happen but if the books not good I get annoyed and usually drop the series but that almost never happens because I LOVE ALL BOOKS and I'm always excited about the next
I love cliffhangers because they are usually soooo exciting, but hate them just as much because the anticipation for the next book jumps tenfold! Either way with or without a cliffhanger it won't stop me from getting the next book if it's a series I like/love!!
I like cliff hangers because they leave me wondering what happens next and I'm always guessing whats going to happen I always get so excited
I really love cliffhangers! If I'm reading a book I love and theres a cliffhanger at the end can make the book 10 times better if that's even possible. I love how cliff hangers leave it open for your imagination to run wild. Sometimes its annoying if I really love the book and then boom! it ends with a cliffhanger and I have no idea if there may be another book, but I eventually get over it and like I said, let my imagination run wild. In someways I think that cliffhangers can be the perfect ending to a book, not necessarily leaving it totally open. I feel that the bigger the cliffhanger, the better! :)
Oh, dear Cliffhangers...I would say it's definitely a love hate relation ship. I hate them because I want to know more! However, I love them because the suspense is delectable, and it adds so much to the story! :D
I love cliffhangers in continuing series, as long as they keep the reader intrigued. I always come back to the series, and depending on how excited I am to find out what happens next, usually determines how soon I pick up the next book!
And cliffhangers in end of series books, are just wrong!
I actually like cliffhangers. It leaves me in suspense, and that's what I love about books. Books are supposed to be written so they leave me wanting more, and that's exactly what cliffhangers do.
-Sierra.☺
For me it really depends on how big the cliffhanger is and how long I have to wait for the next book. If the cliffhanger is amazingly huge and I have to wait close to a year or so for the next book to come out then I usually tend to have a strong dislike for them. However, I really enjoy the really ecstatic feeling I get when I either find the book has been released a week earlier than I expected or when released day is finally there. The hype that is created from a semi nice cliffhanger is a good feeling, but not nearly to the extent of the long awaited one of a huge one.
So, overall I would say that as frustrated and annoyed as cliffhangers, of any magnitude, leave me I have this love/hate relationship with them. I hate to love them, but love to hate them. They are definitely something to keep a person coming back for more.
I have a love-hate relationship with cliffhangers. I hate them because it means I have to wait to find out what happens next and they usually cut you off at a really good part. I love them because they psych me out for the next book. I think I'm actually less likely to keep reading a series that is cliffhanger free. It's just less fun that way.
It really depends on the cliffhanger. I love them to a certain extent. If none of my questions were answered, then it can be a bit annoying. And if every book in the series has a cliffhanger, that can also be annoying, too. But if it's the first or second book in a trilogy/series or every other book than that's fine. It actually makes me nervous and anxious, but excited, too! :)
That is a difficult question. I read incredibly fast, so it doesn't take me long to devour a book. So, when it ends in a cliffhanger, it is pretty tortuous to me. That being said, I do think in most situations a well done cliffhanger can add to a book. However, if the cliffhanger is too much, it can really upset me, making me resent the books, not a feeling I want to have about characters I love. So, I think it all comes down to balance, making the cliffhanger good enough to be a good "hook" but not too bad that it devastates.
Cliffhangers are nice and suspenseful as long as the next book is already out. Otherwise they just make me want to throw the book against the wall, dump it in the fireplace, and trample the ashes. At least that's how it plays out in my head...
A lot about if i like a cliff hanger or not depends on how it was constructed by the writer. if it feels to sudden and out of the blue it really irks me. If you can't write a decent cliff hanger don't.
I typically do however like cliff hangers. It leaves you with a taste of what I call literary desire.
I kind of like a book to be wrapped up on the end, but small things that carry from one book to the next make me look forward to the next book
Sure I hate cliffhangers, but they keep me interested. I feel like that's why authors do it, I almost feel like it is a cheat though too. I just think a good author can leave the reader with some questions, but not a full blown cliffhanger and still keep them interested.
It depends on the severity! I think each individual story/book should be wrapped up before moving on, yet I understand how somethings must be left up in the air to some extent once you get further into the series.
I love cliffhangers IF the next book is out or will be out in a month or two. I HATE cliffhangers when I have to wait for a looong time to find out what happens. But then at the same time wanting to know what happens next helps me remember the series so that it doesn't get lost in my ever growing to be read list :P
I always hate cliffhangers right when I finish a book, but I love them because it makes me wanna see what happens and I can't do that unless I get the next book. :P
I love cliffhangers annoying as they are they're always a promise of more.
I DESPISE cliffhangers!! Of course, it does make me keep on wanting to read, but it drives me crazy... especially when you know something BIG is going to happen ><
I kinda like and don't like cliff hangers. It may be frustrating but at the same time, makes me more excited for the next book.
Van
Hi Rachel,
I love Chliffhangers they are wat make to book sooo interesting, to keep u in suspense is like dangling honey in front of winnie the pooh. Bring on a chiffhanger any day as long as there are going to be more books from you Rachel.
I'm currently reading 'Hairy Mclairy from donaldsons dairy by Lynly Dodd' (to my Son haha) and tonight i shall be starting 'Out For Blood By Alyxandra Harvey'
From Aimee in New Zealand
I love a cliffhanger when done well and necessary to the story.
If they're just thrown in to create drama and then you start the next book and it ends up being a nothing event it's a huge let down.
I have mixed feelings about Cliffhangers. On one hand I hate them for obvious reasons, they just stops leaving you like "Whoa, what the hell?" and then you have to wait a long time before the next book comes out. But on the other hand cliffhangers leaves me wanting more and gives me something to look forward to.
Cliff hangers are good considering what its about. Like if someone is about to die or your ment to think that. So i'm good with cliffhangers!
I have mixed feelings about cliffhangers...it depends on how much I loved the book. If I really like it, then I kinda love the cligghanger because I want to read more, I want another book and although it can be irritating and teasing I am willing to wait because I think it's worth it.
On the other hand, if I didn't like the book, I hate them, because I don't want to read another book but I don't know the ending.
Hey Rachel
well i'm sure whether i love cliffhangers or not but i do know that i hate the wait between books that have them.
xx
Clarissa
I enjoy a cliffhanger but I think the books story needs to be wrapped up each book. If something else new happens right at the end that's fine because at least that book did its purpose and wrapped up. I really hate when nothing is wrapped and a cliffhanger is just there to sell more books.
I hate cliffhangers. They make me itch to buy the next book-- and usually I have to wait months!!
But without cliffies, there wouldn't be much of a story. :)
I both love and hate cliffhangers. It all depends on how the story ends, if i like the book in the first place and how long i have to wait for the next one to come out.
If i like the book i love looking forward to something.
Love from Norway!
Thanuja :)
Well it's a love/hate relationship for me with cliffhangers! I hate them because it leaves me wanting more and impatient for the next book to come out....Although I love them because it gets me all hyped for the next book and will almost always make me want to read the next book!
i have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. i hate that they, well, leave me hanging but i love that it means the story picks up right were it left off!
I love cliffhangers! Some are great, they some things hanging, and you're unsure what's going to happen next, and really intrigued for the next book. Others, like Delirium by Lauren Oliver, ARE TORTURE - in a really amazing way. Anyone thinks it's fair to leave readers hanging on something that is SUCH a big deal... they're mad, but I love them! The feeling of "OMG YOU DIDN'T JUST FINISH!" and "What happened?!?! I need the sequel right this second!" Are just briliant. If I enjoy a book, it's almost certain I'll pick up the sequel anyway, but those major cliffhangers make sure you're buying the book the second it's released, and life can just hold on until you've finished. :)
It all depends on the cliffhanger. Most of the time I get aggravated cause I'm just dying to find out what happens but sometimes, I think cliffhangers are necessary. They keep you interested and guessing until you finally get to read the next book!
When I am reading the book and I get to the end and find that cliffhanger, I hate it. But when I waitinf for the next book that same cliffhanger gives me anticipation of the next release coming out and makes me count the days until I can find out what happens next. Its a love/hate relationship I guess.
"Cliffhangers can be persuasive or just damn annoying. It pulls you in to reading the next novel in the series but leaves you wondering 'what the hell is going to happen next?' It's also annoying when the sequel has yet to hit the shelves and you have to wait for ages!"
I'm way too impatient! so if its a small cliffhanger i can put up with it, if is a big one i drive myself crazy thinking on how is this gonna turn out??? but if there were no cliffhangers i'd miss the anticipation of getting the next book!!!! so love-hate relationship for me :)
If I'm in love with the series, I love the cliffhangers. I like the sweet torture of closing a book and yearning for more right away. It tells me I have been immersed in the world the author created. Then I can't wait until the next one comes out. :) Not only do I buy it right away, but it moves to the top of my TBR and gets devoured immediately.
:)
I think a cliffhanger is okay in one or two books in the series - it does keep me waiting eagerly for the next book. But if it seems to happen in every consequent book, I think I'll get a heart attack. Also, cliffhangers should be totally unexpected and surprising. Say, everything has calmed down, the protagonist is perfectly content and all her problems are solved and then BAM, cliffhanger.
I hate cliffhangers when I finish reading a book. But after some time, when emotions subside I really like to know that in the next book something interesting will happen :>
I love cliffanghers at the end of books! It's frustrating but it can let a positive impression of the total book, even if we don't appreciate the whole story, we can't for reading the sequel!
I only like minor cliff-hangers . . if it's too big, then you get TOO anxious, and I worry that the author may unexpectantly die before they can publish the next book and RESOLVE the huge cliff-hanger.
I don't mind cliffhangers if it is a series that has most if not all books previously released, so I don't have to wait to read what happens next. But yes, even though they drive me crazy...they do keep me coming back for more!
I think it depends on the cliffhanger. There are some that leave you wanting more, and happily waiting for the next book. But, also there are those that make you want to throw the book across the room. Either way, I'll always buy the next book if I enjoyed the one I just read. :)
Well, it depends. If the next book in the series is already published and available to read, then I don't mind cliffhangers... If not, then I shake my fists in the air and curse the book Gods for being so cruel as to make me wait. But of course I read the next as soon as it hits the shelves. That is the beauty of books. They draw us in, make us laugh, cry, cheer and get us coming back for more.
Ciffhangers… I don't like them as I HAVE to know what’s going to happen next. It might not be so bad if there were only a few weeks to wait between each book, but when you have to wait months it’s very annoying. For the fact of if it was stop me reading the next book is hard to answer. I guess it depends on, how much I’ve enjoyed the book and what sort of cliffhanger it is.
I love cliffhangers, they get me so exited for the next book. Nw the only thing I don't like is when the next book comes out and they don't address the cliffhanger right away.
I like cliffhangers, since they make you want to read more and find out what happens next. However, waiting for the next book is frustrating. Since normally it's for a whole year and after a few months you go crazy wondering what's going to happen.
I am not very fond of cliffhangers because I think it is really frustrating and enoying when a book ends when its most exciting! But I think it is a good way of making the reader frantic to get the next book. If I were the author of the book I would definitely make a cliffhanger.
So as frustrating as they are they belong to a good book.
I like cliffhangers, since they make the story exciting, making me want to read more. However, waiting for the book to come out is frustrating. My mind could explode, with the possibility of what could happen next.
I adore cliffhangers I think they are
the best part of a book because they
leave you exciteted and frustrated at
the same time.
By the way I am really looking forword to reading IF I DIE.
I think it all depends on how big a cliffhanger it is. I read a lot of books and i enjoy it when i get to the end and the author has left loose ends (minor ones) it just makes me want to read more. In a series i think that a cliff hanger is useful when continuing a major plot through several books.
I need more books to read and i'm waiting for book 3 of the soul screamers series to be released here in the uk.
pros and cons for me on cliffhangers are (pro) im entertained, and can't wait to find out what happens. (con)im frustrated waiting on the next book to find out more ( which i know is a long process but hey, i'm demanding lol ). if the cliffhanger is good then i want more but if its not then you don't bother, its all in the writing for me.
I LOVE cliffhangers. Sure, I have to wait in agonising suspense for who knows how long until I can find out what happens, but that's the fun part, right? :)
I hate cliffhangers! So much! Ugh, just thinking about the numerous books with them just makes me want to barf. It's so frustrating especially after I get really into a book and it just ends so suddenly. I even start screaming at the book and it isn't a happy sight.
But...I have to admit, cliffhangers are useful. I'm always willing to buy the next book in the series after I read them. I can't help it. Most of the time a cliffhanger can be the actual hook for the next book. I just pray to God the next book is either already released or about to be released.
I am not a big fan of cliffhangers because it leaves you at the edge of your chair until you have to know what happens. Then the book stops....... But on the other hand i like them a little because then there is more of a surprise in the next book!
I love and loathe cliffhangers. If done well, a cliffhanger has me on pins and needles waiting for the next book in the series. If not, then it just annoys me.
I'm very excited about your next series. Blood Bound sounds awesome.
Every time I hear/see the title, I think of the song "Blood Bound" by Hammerfall. I finally got around to checking Youtube for a music video and found one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSDsYmZREwo if you're interested. (It is heavy metal, by the way.)
<3,
TL
I don't mind cliffhangers, personally. I always want to know what happened next, regardless of cliffhangers. However, when I'm recommending books, I tend to steer clear of books with major cliffhangers if the whole series isn't out yet.
I don't "love" cliffhangers, but it surely makes me eager to read the next book if there is one. Of course, I'd probably come back for the next book in a series anyway, I love continuing stories. I do love a great, satisfying ending though.
I love a good cliff hanger, i love the fact that with a good cliff hanger when i pick the next book it just continues and feels like i never really left the world of that series as opposed to a series where everything gets tied up and the next book is a whole new adventure just starring the same characters(not that i like those ind of books)but i love it when i can get straight back in from page one and have a general idea of the direction
Really I love but hate them. I love them because they make me want to read the next book. But I hate them so much because I usually have to wait to find out what happens.
i dont like cliffhangers! I hate to get all the way to the end of the book and then there be this horrible cliff hanger bc then i really really want the next one (which is good for authors) but sometimes i cant stop thinking about how bad i want the next book!! However its good for authors bc not only does it guarantee that the reader will buy the next book but it also probably makes them feel good about their writting if someone didnt want a book to end (but i never want a book to end if its good)!! Rachel i dont think youve ever left any terrible cliffhangers *YET* thank goodness for that but i seriously never want to put down your books esp after MSTS i read it in like 5 hours lol
It depends. Yes, it was executed properly, meaning it was halted at the right time and right amount information was thrown, with some hints connecting to next book. No, it was poorly done, like cutting the story in the most critical part, for the sake of cliffhanger. And as a reader, that would be very frustrating.
But I prefer a good wrapped up.
I love/hate them. I just had this happen with a book I finished the other day. Before I started the book which is part of a series, I was planning on reading something completely different next. But, at the end it had a crazy cliffhanger, so I had to change me original plans and start on the next one in the series. Crazy cliffhangers...... *sighs*
Cliffhangers...I love and hate them. I like the suspense that comes with them, I like the anticipation to the next novel to see what will happen with the characters. What I hate is the waiting to the next novel. Even when it's a month--which I have had that happen--it's still agonizing, but my other problem comes with not wanting to wait to read the first book because likely it has been too long since I read from the series/author to begin with.
So cliffhangers and I have a love-hate relationship.
I think cliffhangers is a love-hate relationship! For me you can't have one without the other. As much as I hate them, they are exciting as well! I really don't need a cliffhanger to make me come back for the next novel. If I like the author and enjoy the series or novel...I will be back! Once I really like a writer I usually stick with her ;)
Shelley
Oooh congrats!
I actually am a fan of cliffhangers. Yes, they are annoying. But, they are totally suspenseful and leave me guessing. I think it's awesome leaving something open for people to ponder! Thanks for the great giveaway :D
~Alison
I really depends on how soon the next book in the series will come out. If it is around maybe 4-7 months I could deal but if the next installment is around a year or more, it is more like a love/hate thing. I hate that I have to wait so long but it's a good thing since it means I am absolutely hooked on someone's book. I don't really like when an author ends every book in their series on a cliffhanger, it just gets very frustrating. I also don't like when the book is just a one book series and the author ends it with a happy ending but a couple loose ends still because then I am like, "So what happened?!" and I never get to find out.
I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. It all depends on if I have the next book handy or not! Lol
i hate cliffhangers! they leave you with all this suspense and than you go mad until the next book comes out
I absolutely love cliffhangers because they leave so much suspense to the book...I love suspense. I also love the part of waiting for the next book to arrive so that I can read the answer to the cliffhanger :)

Personally, I don't like cliffhangers, but it is true that they bring me to the next book. I feel the urge to know what will be happening next and cannot rest until I do. If this is the case, then the series is a)really good OR b)I don't feel like doing my homework now
Cliffhangers are frustrating to me. I enjoy sitting down to read a good book and when I'm done reading a book with a cliffhanger it upsets me that I have to wait another year to find out what happens. Its like I already waited a year to get the book to begin with and I have to wait again for the whole story. I just finished a book that left a huge cliffhanger and then I kept going and I was so happy when the frist chapter of the next book was there. If I really like the author I will continue to read the series because I;m happy with the story to begin with.
I like cliffhangers because it makes me excited to read the other books especially series but only if they are really good.. but also sometimes I hate it because I get annoyed when the books are sometimes very late released..
I think it depends. I have a very love/hate kind of relationship with cliffhangers. I hate that the current story is over, at least for a little while; but I love having something to look forward to.
I absolutely HATE cliffhangers! I am the most impatient person in the world. That's why when I buy a book in a series I make sure I get each one that's already been released so I don't have to rush back to the store or wait to buy them. Lol it's sad i know but I really need to know something right away or I have to find a new series to get my mind off the cliffhanger of another series. This is also why I love TV SHOWS ON DVDs so much lol. O and I read your post to your anonymous commentor- YOU GO RACHEL! don't be taking any smack talk from anyone lol. Have a nice weekend.
I can't say i love cliffhangers but if there is one it really just makes the reader dying for the next book. An author shouldn't give away everything, because reading is better when we use or imagination to picture the book. when the book ends with a cliffhanger i just stare blankly at the last few lines for a few minutes. But hey, its the author's sneaky way of getting people to buy and read their next book. And cliffhangers make everything more interesting :].
I have a destructive relationship with cliffhangers: like a masoschist I love that thrill of coming to the end of the chapter only to find a cliffhanger and quickly turning the page and devouring the next chapter to satisfy my hunger, and when this happens at the end of a novel, I still get adrenaline thrill with of course a bit of insatisfaction and disappointment. But I enjoy them! Especially if I have the next book on the shelf and can delve right into it! ;-p lol
